Fall 2019 Tuition Policy

The SAS Czech and Slovak School and Preschool is a cooperative effort of its members (we all split the actual costs each semester) based on current and expected enrollments, rents and teacher fees, and heavily or rather, generously, subsidized by grants SAS has received from various donors. As a relatively new, non-profit organization, we strive to provide quality language instruction while keeping our budget and costs at a minimum. SAS is run exclusively by volunteers – teachers are the ONLY salaried positions in the organization and Board members are not paid or reimbursed in any way.

Unfortunately, we were informed last year that SVU (Society of Arts and Sciences) will no longer be providing us grant money. This is a loss of $5000. Since tuition hasn’t been raised since 2016, therefore, the semester costs are as follows:

The semester costs are as follows:

  • SAS Membership for 2018-19: Yearly membership dues of $25 per family must be received by
    September 30th.
  • Škola (older children 7-16, Friday evenings) families pay based on the following sliding scale for 17 2-hour classes (1 hour of instructional time in the classroom and 1 hour of language/culture-related activity, to include folklore, crafts, sports, etc.), based on rents and salaries, in addition to subsidies from our grant funds for tuition. This includes a materials/book fee for the semester.
    1 child $270
    2 children $325
    3 children $360
  • Školka (children ages 2-6, Saturday mornings) families pay based on the following sliding scale for 17 2-hour classes, based on rents and salaries, in addition to subsidies from our grant funds for tuition. This includes a materials/books fee for the semester.
    1 child $180
    2 children $215
    3 children $245
  • Jesle (infants ages 0-2, Saturday mornings) families pay solely based on rent, as there is no paid teacher for the class. Parents play a major role to facilitate interaction with the children! Therefore, families will pay a flat fee of $30/family.

We are looking forward to another successful school year! Please let us know if you have any questions.
